Fractional & interim CTO
Your own CTO, without the fixed cost of employment
Strategic tech and growth leadership at CTO level, deployed flexibly: fractional part-time, or interim full-time for a transition.
A fractional CTO gives you the strategic tech leadership of a CTO without a full-time salary and employer costs. You hire exactly the involvement you need: continuously steering (fractional) or temporarily intensive for a transition or scale-up (interim). You work directly with one experienced person, no agency in between.
Fractional, interim or freelance CTO: what's the difference?
A fractional CTO is structurally involved part-time: continuously steering technology, architecture and growth for a fixed monthly fee. Ideal when you want a CTO's strategic firepower but can't or don't (yet) want to hire a full-time CTO.
An interim CTO steps in temporarily full-time, usually to bridge a transition: a departing CTO, a tech overhaul, a merger or a rapid scale-up. Freelance CTO work is project-based and short-lived. I usually work fractional, and interim where the situation calls for it.
What you get every month
As your fractional CTO I take the technical-strategic lead: I guard your architecture and security, steer the right technology and vendor decisions, and translate your business goals into a concrete tech roadmap. Where needed I lead your development team, help with hiring and keep quality high.
The difference from a detached advisor: I have a stake in your results and stay connected. We steer on agreed outcomes, not untraceable hours, a real win-win instead of a fake construction.
When do you need a fractional CTO?
Sound familiar? Your development team is growing but lacks technical leadership. You make tech or vendor decisions without anyone guarding the overview. You have no clear tech roadmap aligned with your business goals. Or you're between two CTOs and need heavy leadership temporarily.
In all those cases a fractional or interim CTO gives you years of enterprise-tech experience, without the fixed cost and risk of a wrong full-time hire.
Why I become your CTO
I've been building software for over 13 years, from my first websites to enterprise systems, and sharpened that craft at Ernst & Young (Security Engineering) and Nationale Nederlanden (DevOps), where security and reliability aren't an afterthought but the standard.
But technology alone doesn't build a business. Through my experience in e-commerce and sales I know what really matters: not the prettiest code, but more customers, higher conversion and growth you see in the numbers. That combination, enterprise engineering and an entrepreneur's eye, rarely comes in one person.

No. We steer on agreed results and work with clear agreements and documentation, not a disguised employment relationship. I think along about your whole business with a stake in your growth, a real win-win.
